A week in Libya exploring Greek and Roman ruins and epic desert landscapes. After arriving in Tripoli we head south to Ghadames, a key trading centre in the middle of the Sahara desert, it now stands as an illustration of a mud built Berber town with Islamic architecture. After two nights in the desert we return to the coastline which is littered with Greek and Roman sites. Sabratha and especially Leptis Magna are amongst the most complete roman ruins anywhere in the world and we explore them both as well as the capital Tripoli. There are currently limitations on where we can arrange travel in Libya but we feel this is a great introduction to the areas in which we can guide.

We include breakfast every day and all meals when not in Tripoli. In our experience people sometimes want to eat different things in different places at different times and when there is an option we will be happy for you to have your say. However, we do not pretend to be the arbiters of good taste and are equally happy for you to go off and find your own favourites. However, when restaurants are unavailable we ensure that food is provided.
When we choose our vehicles and drivers we take into consideration the road conditions, the length of journey and the competence of the man behind the wheel. Most of the roads on this trip are paved although the state of the surface can vary. Your comfort and enjoyment of the journey is the first priority.
On this trip you will be accompanied by an English speaking guide from Untamed Borders for the whole time you are in Libya.
Trips to Libya do create dangers all of their own and whilst we want you to have as much freedom as possible we must state that the guide has the final word with regards to changes in the itinerary for safety reasons. Whilst the route we have chosen passes through areas that we consider to be stable things can change and we may have to alter the route or cancel sections of the trip at short notice.
If there is an extra expense incurred due to the change of itinerary then you may be asked to bear part of that cost. For example, if we have to fly between cities rather than drive.
