Mogadishu Marathon

Untamed Borders organised packages to compete in the Mogadishu Marathon in 2019 and 2020 – a unique race, which was held inside the city’s airport compound.

 

 

The complex political and security situation in the country makes mass participation sport particularly challenging, so this was a rare opportunity for tourists and Somalis alike to take part in a large event of this nature. The race paused due to the COVID pandemic and has not restarted since restrictions were eased. 

 

 

Funds raised from the race, and through the participation of Untamed Borders guests, were donated to the Aamin Ambulance Service, a wonderful charity, ran by volunteers, which responds to everything from injuries and illnesses, along with terror attacks, in the nation.
