Libya in 7 Days

Overview

Start: Tripoli, Libya
Finish: Tripoli, Libya
Duration: 7 Days
Max. Group Size: 10

A week long adventure exploring the highlights of Libya.

After beinning in Tripoli, where we visit the newly refubrished National Museum, its Old Medina and key ancient sites, we then head along the coast to take in the immense Roman remains at Sabratha. The next day we head inland, through the rugged Jebel Nafusa hills, to the UNESCO listed oasis town, Ghadames. The town has been a key trading centre in the middle of the Sahara for centuries and stands as a wonderful illustration of mud built Berber arcitecture and we experience traditional Imazighen culture too.

After spending two nights in the Sahara, we then return to the coast to visit Leptis Magna one of most impressive, important and complete Roman sites on earth, before finishing back in Tripoli.

There are currently limitations on where we can arrange travel in Libya but we feel this is a great introduction to the areas in which we can guide.

Information

We do not directly arrange international flights to Libya. We can suggest routes and operators.
We do not arrange Libyan visas directly. Over the past few years, Libyan visa processes have had a tendency to change several times in a year.  As of summer 2023, most nationalities are now eligible for obtaining a pre-authorisation to obtain a visa on arrival. Please contact us for more details.
We include breakfast every day and all meals when not in Tripoli.  In our experience people sometimes want to eat different things in different places at different times and when there is an option we will be happy for you to have your say.  However, we do not pretend to be the arbiters of good taste and are equally happy for you to go off and find your own favourites. However, when restaurants are unavailable we ensure that food is provided.
When we choose our vehicles and drivers we take into consideration the road conditions, the length of journey and the competence of the man behind the wheel. Most of the roads on this trip are paved although the state of the surface can vary. Your comfort and enjoyment of the journey is the first priority.
On this trip you will be accompanied by an English speaking guide from Untamed Borders for the whole time you are in Libya.
Trips to Libya do create dangers all of their own and whilst we want you to have as much freedom as possible we must state that the guide has the final word with regards to changes in the itinerary for safety reasons. Whilst the route we have chosen passes through areas that we consider to be stable things can change and we may have to alter the route or cancel sections of the trip at short notice. If there is an extra expense incurred due to the change of itinerary then you may be asked to bear part of that cost. For example, if we have to fly between cities rather than drive.
