Virtual Tours with Fatima: Afghanistan

Have you ever dreamt of travelling to Afghanistan, or wondered what it would be like to visit this fascinating country as a tourist? Join pioneering Afghan tour guide Fatima Haidari on a virtual tour of Afghanistan, taking a deeper look into her hometown of Herat or follow along on a journey across Central Afghanistan.

Now residing in Italy, Fatima hit the headlines in 2020 when she was recognised as the first female tour guide in Afghanistan.
Hosted by Untamed Borders, Fatima will give some background on Afghanistan and the country’s current situation before taking guests on a virtual tour.
Guest can chose to sign up for two alterative tours; 

Herat: home to the best concentration of ancient buildings in Afghanistan. Starting at the Great Mosque, follow Fatima as she guides you through bustling bazaars and ancient shrines, as well as a look into the modern cultural side of Herat.

Central Afghanistan: Central Afghanistan: A journey between Kabul and Herat through the Central Highlands of Afghanistan. Highlights include the Buddhist caves in Bamian, the Lapis Lazuli blue lakes of Band e Amir and the incomparable 800 year old Minaret of Jam hidden away down a remote valley in Ghor province.

Tickets cost $60 which will be split between Fatima, a charity of Fatima’s choice (a woman’s education charity currently operating in Afghanistan) and Untamed Borders to cover the administration fee.

All tour dates start at 7PM UK time and will last around 1 hour. Once booked, you will receive an email explaining how to join the virtual tour a few days prior.
