East of Libya

Overview

Start: Benghazi, Libya
Finish: Benghazi, Libya
Duration: 5 Days
Max. Group Size: 10

Discover a side of Libya few international travellers have experienced on this five-day journey through the country’s historic eastern region. Beginning in Benghazi, the tour explores the remarkable legacy of ancient Cyrenaica, from the great Greek and Roman cities of Ptolemais, Apollonia and Cyrene to Byzantine churches, dramatic Mediterranean coastline and the lush landscapes of the Green Mountains. Untamed Borders was among the first companies to return to eastern Libya after the civil war, offering rare access to one of the country’s least-visited and most rewarding regions.

Trip Highlights:
– Explore the ancient cities of Cyrene, Apollonia and Ptolemais, among the finest Greek and Roman ruins in North Africa.
– Discover Libya’s Mediterranean coastline on a boat trip beneath the sea caves of Ra’s al Hilal.
– Discover a region that remained largely inaccessible to international visitors for many years.

Combine this trip with our Libya in 7 Days group tour to Western Libya, which visits Tripoli, Leptis Magna and Ghadames.
